Judgement Passport™: preserve how an accountable outcome was reached

A Judgement Passport records provenance and accountability for eligible governed outcomes — linking evidence, authority and human responsibility.

Why output provenance is insufficient

Knowing what was produced is not the same as knowing how an accountable outcome was reached — who had authority, what evidence applied and where human judgement occurred.

What a Judgement Passport records

A structured provenance and accountability record associated with an eligible judgement or governed outcome. It preserves the material institutional chain needed to reconstruct how that outcome was reached — not an AI Passport, and not a record of every private thought.

Where implemented, that chain may include situation and context, authoritative evidence, applicable requirements, authority or delegation, institutional capabilities used, material system or model contributions, unresolved uncertainty, relevant human judgement, authorised action, outcome and accountability.

Preserve the material evidence of judgement, not the private thought process of the person exercising it. The architecture governs the environment in which judgement occurs rather than surveilling the mind exercising it.

Eligibility

Not every task or output receives a Passport. Issuance applies to eligible governed outcomes within supported workflows.

Human judgement and responsibility

Passports preserve human accountability. They do not transfer authority to a model or autonomous mechanism.

Evidence and provenance

Passports associate evidence and provenance records where the platform's governance foundations support them — without claiming comprehensive audit history across every workflow.

Relationship to Judgement Object

Passports may be associated with Judgement Objects so provenance persists with the consequential matter being governed.

Issuance and association

Internal issuance, persistence, association and projection foundations are implemented for eligible outcomes.

Review and verification

Passports support review and verification of how an outcome was reached — within the maturity boundaries of the current platform version.

Current availability

Internal issuance, persistence, association, projection and read foundations are implemented for eligible governed outcomes. Complete customer presentation, access and export are still being incorporated.

Current maturity: Internal issuance, persistence, association, projection and read foundations are implemented for eligible governed outcomes. Complete customer presentation, access and export are still being incorporated.

Customer access and export direction

Customer presentation, self-service access and export formats are being incorporated. Passport export remains unavailable in the current pilot.

Illustrative example

Illustrative only: a grants assessment outcome where reviewers need to reconstruct which policy rules, evidence submissions and authorised judgements produced the decision.
